The Unforgotten Truth

MIA/POW

On August 28, 1968 - 5 days before I was born,  LT Robert R Duncan was shot down during a mission in Vietnam along with his copilot LT JG Alan F Ashall

Shortly after my second birthday on September 11, 1970 - 1LT Bernard H Plassmeyer began his tour in Vietnam.  Unfortunately he was shot down running support for an operation near A Shau Valley April 7, 1976.  There have been contradicting reports as to whether he was able to eject before the crash.  There were no remains at his crash site when it was found and investigated by the U.S. in  1991.

Of nearly 60,000 men and women lost in Vietnam and listed on the Memorial Wall these are but a few of over 2,500 that are still listed MIA/POW.  While our government continues to search for them, we need to be aware of the missing.  This is dedicated the thousands of soldiers that are still listed MIA in many wars over the years.  Please, take a moment to search through those missing, reflect upon the loss that the families feel, and pray that they are returned to us if only for the opportunity to bring closure where uncertainty remains.
