I recently received an e-mail from a Vietnam Vet who gave me permission to post a copy of
his letter here. Through Don's letter I know that I am succeeding in my
mission with this site: sharing support of troop and emergency personnel
who do not hear what is most important.. A simple.. Thank You for what you do!
Thank you all for visiting.

Hi. I'm not sure why it happens, but the older I get,
the more meaningful some things become.
Things like your website. I have to believe that
it is a real help to many. My service in
Vietnam (B-52 crew chief, flew several Arc Light missions)
was nothing compared to what so many had to endure.
However, I am still proud of it and thankful for
the opportunity. It is nice that you can put into
words so eloquently what so many of us feel.
And it is nice to know that other people do care.
You touch not only the Vets, but also those of us in the emergency
services. Thank you for sharing your gift.

They Walked Away
They walked away...
Into ash, smoke and flame never to return
Bravery was never considered for it was simply who they were
They were firemen determined to save as many lives as possible
Many will move on seeming to forget these men
Some will carry memories of these men to their graves
Others remember watching in helpless horror feeling relief to not have been involved,
and yet wishing they had the means to help in some small way.
Each of us carries a void which these men filled
A void now filled with darkness and despair
Overshadowing good
Absorbing joy
Yet the good eventually overcomes the bad
The sorrow burns less intently
The joy holds on more frequently
Purpose returns to everyday life
Don't let another day pass without realizing the joy to wake up
To have yet another day with someone special
To share in the joy or sorrow of a friend
Find an opportunity to appreciate those who protect you
be they Fire, Police, Paramedic or Military Personnel
And maybe, someday these men will walk back in
Back in from another fire in another city bearing another's face
Yet until the dust, ash, and smoke are rinsed off no one would
know the difference, for they are all heroes.
To our heroes ...
May you be happy
May you be safe
For though we may not stop to say hi, nor even send a careless wave
your way
We care for your well-being and appreciate all you do each
and ever day.
