The Honor Was Mine
Singing in the choir Facing the congregation The advantage was mine Far back in the fringes sat an honorable man
For years I have been hoping Been praying For time to change For a soldier's return
Many times over I know they have come Home from many countries Home to many states Many towns
But tonight was different Tonight he was there In our state, town In our congregation
A soldier proudly served Survived and returned The smile of joy As we all recognized His survival and service
Even ages after Mass was over He stood with family Saying hello to friends Missed during the war
Times may change But bonds hold true Forever we will rave Of a warriors gladdened return
The joy and pride were his But the honor was mine To be in the presence of an incredible force The American Soldier, home from war.

Ooh Say Can You See... The words ring true By the Dawns Early Light... The distance seems slight
Some 2,000 miles separatate The performance from the audience Yet the sound rings through As clean and pure as ever sung
Mostly done As was written The joy, the pride As few ever felt
Accapella with a little twist Solely owned by Cornbread himself None could have done so well As the soldier performing tonight
Making the night of fans near Allowing one who loves a good voice From afar to hear You see, this was the first live performance for me!
Thank you for your generosity Your talent, your drive you share with the world What a fantastic rendition Ever to be heard!
